On Monday, we had some special guest presenters in our class who came to teach us more about autism, or ASD (autism spectrum disorder). We did a simulation activity to show us what it might feel like to have more sensitive sensory processes, like many people with ASD. Not only did we get to learn a little bit more about what it might be like to live in the shoes of someone with autism, we also learned about different ways to be a real friend to people with autism. Understanding how their minds may work differently than ours helped us learn what we can do to communicate with them better in order to be friends and get along. We can't wait to implement some of these strategies in our classroom. It feels so great when everyone can be involved and accepted for who they are!

I am so glad that you all had the opportunity to have the visit from members of the autism team. It is important to learn this information so that you can understand and help people around you. Well done! From Mrs, Jamieson
